Councillors from three boroughs will consider calls by Roehampton residents for their councils to take over the running of Richmond Park at next week's meeting of the Richmond Park Forum.

The meeting takes place at Wandsworth Town Hall on Wednesday, October 16 - starting at 7.30pm. It will be attended by councillors from Wandsworth, Kingston and Richmond.

A vote of no confidence in the Royal Parks Agency was passed overwhelmingly at a public meeting held by Wandsworth on October 1.

All three councils are holding meetings to allow local residents to have their say on the RPA's plans to close Robin Hood Gate to through traffic and the Pen Ponds car park. Both proposals have been widely condemned by park users.

The RPA has refused to carry out its own public consultation but after pressure from the councils did agree to accept responses up to October 25. The Government body declined invitations to attend any of the three local meetings organised by the councils.

The Kingston public meeting was held on September 5. The final meeting - for Richmond residents - is scheduled for October 24.
