Recently, Thamesfield Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) together with colleagues at East Putney SNT and officers from the Safer Transport Team carried out a week long proactive operation targeting bike thieves.

This resulted in an arrest of a prolific thief who operates across several boroughs. Two other people were arrested for handling stolen goods.

Two of the bikes recovered have been confirmed as stolen and a third is also believed to be stolen.

PS Chapple said:
“Theft of cycles is a growing crime trend across the whole of London and particularly here in Putney. We would encourage all cyclists to use a substantial D lock to secure their bikes wherever they leave them to help reduce the amount of thefts. The police will continue to use all available methods to catch criminals in addition to high visibility patrols conducting stop and searches.
