On Monday the 4th of March 2013, a temporary footbridge will be brought into use at Putney to allow the existing staircases to be taken out of use in preparation for the construction of a new access for all footbridge.

Passengers at this station, joining and alighting at platforms 2, 3 & 4 will need to use the temporary footbridge via platform 1.

We have been advised that the temporary footbridge will be in use until further notice.

Concerns have been raised as to the suitability of the temporary structure during peak commuter hours. One resident and user said it looks:
" ..rather fragile for the number of passengers likely to be using it at the height of the rush hour", but Network Rail has been confirmed:
"that the footbridge has been designed to current standards, to withhold a load of 5kN/m2."
