Brenda Swaddle, who has been headteacher at Eastwood Nursery School, Roehampton since 1992, has received an OBE in the New Year's Honours List published today.

Before starting teaching in 1985 Brenda had worked in a small family business. Her first job was in the nursery class at the former Roehampton Gate school.

Brenda said today: "From the start I was able to develop a good understanding of the value of integrated care and education for young children. I have been fortunate to work with colleagues who valued early years teaching and recognised that it was crucial to a child's future development."

"I feel very proud of the achievements of all those involved with Eastwood Nursery School. The staff and governors are an exceptional team. They are totally committed to providing the highest quality education and care for all the children."
