Children from 25 primary schools in the Putney constituency have joined the local MP for a Platinum Jubilee celebration in Putney Library.

Fleur Anderson was joined by the new Mayor of Wandsworth as the pupils presented artwork which the MP has since taken to Buckingham Palace this week and given to HRH the Countess of Wessex.

Each school contributed a work of art as a tribute to Her Majesty, which were put on display in Putney Library and received by Ms Anderson, the Mayor, and Cllr. Kate Stock, the new Wandsworth Cabinet member who is responsible for all Council services relating to children and young people across all Wandsworth communities.

Ms Anderson, MP for Putney, said, "When I was invited to go to the Palace for the Jubilee I wanted to involve all our school children and I have loved the result. We had a wonderful celebration with teachers and pupils from all the schools at Putney Library and I am sure the Queen will love them when I deliver the book to her this week.

“The artwork is so impressive, there’s everything from collages to paintings to a beautiful tapestry! Every school has worked so hard on their art work and I have never seen so many pictures of corgis. There are pictures of the Queen and of celebrations, one of a Jubilee party on Roehampton High Street, pictures using a variety of styles of art to create her dress, and even a tactile depiction of the Queen by Linden Lodge pupils. All the students and teachers should be so proud of themselves.

“I am looking forward to joining many Jubilee celebrations in streets and schools the next month, and it is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community to thank Her Majesty for her 70 years of service, and to celebrate being British and all the openness, diversity, respect and community spirit that that we share.”

Cllr Kate Stock, Wandsworth Cabinet lead for Children, also attended the event and said, "Thank you to all the schools and pupils for their hard work. It was really was exceptional. I think Her Majesty will absolutely love the all artwork!

"You've made Putney, Roehampton, and Southfields proud."
