Police are appealing for witnesses following the death of an elderly lady following a road traffic collision in Roehampton.

Officers were called at approx 2.25pm on the 11th November following reports of a goods vehicle in collision with a woman in Roehampton Lane, SW15. London Ambulance Service attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem took place on 13th November at St George's Hospital mortuary. Police await details of the result. Next of kin have been informed and although theu await formal identification we are confident that the deceased is 92 year old Elizabeth Tauber from Putney.

An inquest will open and adjourn in due course.

It is believed that Elizabeth was crossing the road when the vehicle - a VW van - reversed and struck her. This incident occurred outside Roehampton University and officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area to contact them with information. A 24-Hour police witness line has been set up on 0208 941 9011.

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton Traffic Garage investigate. There have been no arrests.
