|Get Help With Art Funding
Small grants & Project grants available
A free clinic takes place on Monday 5 September to help local artists and arts groups to apply for council funding.
The two hour session will provide information about the small grants and project grants schemes, as well as the Cultural Wealth Fund and the Wandsworth Big Society Fund.
Members of the council's arts team will be on hand to advice applicants and discuss their ideas.
Wandsworth's arts and culture spokesman Cllr Jonathan Cook said:
"We understand the important role culture plays in our borough and we want to support our residents and local artists in developing their creative projects. Over the years our different funding schemes have helped with the production of some incredible pieces of work that have had a positive impact in our community. We are extremely proud of that track record and have high expectation for the next round of projects".
The arts team is particularly interested in supporting projects which will be part of the Wandsworth Arts Festival 2012 programme.
Small Grants Fund
This scheme supports new arts projects, the extension of an existing project or experiments with new work. Individuals can apply for up to £500 and groups can apply for up to £1500. The grant can cover up to 70 per cent of project's total costs.
Applications can be made every other month, and a quick response time ensures the scheme is easily accessible.
Project Grants Fund
This scheme is designed to help groups and organisations deliver high-quality innovative projects - especially ones that engage with new audiences.
The fund supports projects that help create long-lasting artistic partnerships and develop new skills. Projects should have significant artistic merit, and be inherently imaginative.
For Project Grants, individuals and organisations can apply for support between £1500 and £4000, and the grant will cover up to half the overall budget. Only one successful application can be made each financial year and the project must benefit the people of Wandsworth.
The latest groups to be awarded project grant funding was The Brick Box. This art collective used the cash to create a large-scale interactive experiment that uses technology and instinctive drawing techniques in a large scale public context using the theme of Big Draw 2011: 'The Drawing Age'.
Another previous grant recipient was Collective Studios which used the funding to run a drawing, transfer and print workshop at the Wandsworth Museum.
