In December a survey by the Liberal Democrats identified these two crossings as part of 347 dangerous crossings in London - click here for supporting article.

Earlier this month Assembly Member Richard Tracey sent the following email to TfL: "In Putney at the A219 Putney High Street crossing with the A205 Upper Richmond Rd the crossing is neither tactile or audible compliant nor is its timing compliant. The second is at the crossing of A219 Putney Hill and Putney Heath Lane, this is timing compliant but neither audible or tactile compliant."

This week he received the following response:-

"The signals your constituent identified are two of the remaining 261 sites which require upgrading to support the use of tactile and/or audible signals. TfL is currently looking at how best to prioritise this work to complete the entire estate by 2015/16 or sooner, using other programmes to fund the necessary upgrade of junction hardware.

At the Putney High St/Putney Hill junction the signals were adjusted by us on 30 December and are now compliant with current DfT standards."

Richard told PutneySW15.com
"I am glad one of these crossings, which are so important to elderly and hearing or sight impaired people, has been fixed, but I am still concerned at the long possible delay on the second one I raised."
