Young people in Wandsworth with a passion for performance, music or arts are being urged to register for the 2010 Young Performer talent competition.

The event is run by the Wandsworth Arts Team in conjunction with the Youth Participation Team, and is open to 14-19 year olds who live, go to school/a youth club or work in Wandsworth.

The competition is an opportunity for singers, poets, dancers, musicians, bands, comedians and any other performers with an act or routine to showcase their talent.

In 2009 almost 200 young people took part in Young Performer, with the 1st prize, leading to performance opportunities across the borough.  Prizes this year include a tailored package of professional development opportunities.

Saturday 23 October 
Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), 36 Battersea Square, SW11 3RA

Saturday 30 October 
Battersea Arts Centre, Lavender Hill, SW11 5TN

Skills development workshops, specifically designed for Young Performer entrants will be run industry professionals, and take place
6, 7 & 13 November.

Bigga Fish, the not for profit youth organisation, are running the event management and street team training, and there will be exciting opportunities for young people to get involved with the event production and marketing.
