Phone Boxes Are Calling Local Artists | |||
BT ArtBox & ChildLine are looking for vision
This summer all eyes will be on London as the city hosts the Olympic and Paralympic Games. BT ArtBox is a chance for artists to be at the heart of the excitement while raising over a million pounds for ChildLine. BT ArtBox will be an open-air art exhibition, celebrating 25 years of ChildLine. BT ArtBox is looking for artists from all disciplines to explore and re-imagine the classic BT phone box, whilst retaining its integrity as a British icon. ArtBox is a fantastic opportunity for you to get involved with a creative London campaign and provide yourself with a platform for exposure whilst supporting ChildLine. They are looking to invite artists to work with on this major arts initiative and to reinterpret the telephone box for public display. Each artist must express their vision through their choice of media to create inspirational, optimistic and thought-provoking artwork. Each artist or designer will take receive a full-size, fibre-glass replica of the Sir Giles Gilbert Scott-designed original K6 phone kiosk, which was introduced in 1936 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the coronation of King George V. Since 1986, ChildLine has given millions of children in distress or danger the one thing they need most: a voice. To celebrate ChildLine’s 25th anniversary, BT are launching BT ArtBox – a public art installation and hope to raise £1 million, allowing ChildLine to answer a further 250,000 calls.. For bullied, abused or neglected children, ChildLine is the only place they can go to talk about their troubles without being judged. It’s vital that no call or email goes unanswered – you can help.
