Wandsworth Council is modernising community services in the borough and wants residents’ views.

The council is responsible for commissioning a range of services and wants to improve them to deliver high quality, cost effective care that is easy to access for everyone who needs it.

The services included are:

• Contraception clinics (also known as family planning or reproductive sexual health clinics)
• Young people’s sexual health clinics
• Testing and treatment of non-complex sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in community-based settings
• Chlamydia screening for young people
• Prevention and outreach sexual health services for groups more at risk
• Free condoms scheme for young people

The council wants to develop services by improving waiting times, opening hours and locations, and the way appointments are booked, to make sure people are getting the service they need. The aim is for services to work together to ensure people get information and treatment as early as possible to protect their health.

Residents are invited to complete a five-minute anonymous survey to say what they need and want from sexual health services. Anyone who would like to provide more detailed feedback can do so by emailing the sexual health team at sexualhealth@wandsworth.gov.uk.

Vision for the future

The Council are looking to develop the community Contraception and Sexual service, by:

  • Improving waiting times
  • Improving access by choosing locations that make sense - that are where people are who need them and that have good transport links
  • Improving opening hours, and the way you can make an appointment to see the correct service for you.
  • Ensuring the new Community Contraception and Sexual service will meet the needs of everyone in our diverse population whatever your race, age. income or sexual orientation.
  • Informing, preventing and treating you at the earliest stage to ensure you have a healthy and happy sex life.

Take part in the consultation through an anonymous survey.
