Schools celebrate another good year for GCSE results, with some stand-out successes

Provisional results for five or more A*-C including English and maths remained stable at 62 per cent – well above the national average from 2014 of 56.6 per cent.

Harris Academy Battersea achieved 68 per cent on this measure – up 23 percentage points from last year. The school converted to an academy in September 2014 and has also jumped to the top of the borough’s league table for A* to C grades at A-level.

Chestnut Grove Academy also increased significantly in the proportion of pupils gaining five or more A*-C including English and maths – up ten percentage points.

The proportion of pupils achieving five or more A*-C grades improved by two percentage points to 72 per cent, following decline in the previous year resulting from changes to GCSE qualifications.

Harris Academy Battersea, Ark Academy Putney and Chestnut Grove Academy all improved by at least 10 percentage points for this measure.

The council’s education spokesman Councillor Kathy Tracey said;

“Once again our schools have performed excellently and I would like to thank staff, students and parents for all their hard work. I would especially like to congratulate Harris Academy, Ark Putney Academy and Chestnut Grove for the improvements they have made in such a short time in GCSE and A-Level results.”
