London Underground hope to run a Sunday service despite walkout

London Underground hopes to run a Sunday service on Boxing Day, 26th December even though Tube workers voted overwhelming for strike action.

Aslef members working for London Underground voted by a majority of nine to one to take industrial action on Boxing Day over pay and holiday terms.

The dispute centres on the union, which represents most drivers on London’s tube system, demanding triple pay and a day off in lieu for its members working on December 26.

However London Underground bosses said that Boxing Day is ‘an ordinary working day’ and have refused extra money. The union argues that this is patently nonsense and feels that they are legitimately demanding premium rates for working on the day following Christmas Day.

Aslef say said that disruption will be 'extensive and significant' affecting football fans and sale shoppers.

Boxing Day Travel

A Sunday service will be operating on the Tube, buses and Tramlink.

A reduced service will run on the DLR from 08:30 with trains every 15-30 minutes.

There will be no service on the London Overground.

There will be no Riverboat services except for the Westminster - London Eye - Tower - Greenwich service which will run normally.
