Putney High School’s Junior School Choir is through to the national final of the BBC Songs of Praise Junior School Choir of the Year 2013

It is the third time in five years that the choir has earned the honour.

They won through with a semi-final performance for which they were commended by one judge, Suzi Digby, for their ‘absolutely perfect tuning.’

Putney High School has since been contacted by composers Peter Rose and Anne Conlon, who wrote the winning song, to thank the girls for ‘the choir’s most thoughtful and sensitive interpretation’.

Putney High Junior School’s Director of Music Mrs Wendy Archibald said:
“The girls were thrilled at getting into the final. It was well worth all the hours of practice!”

Tune in to BBC 1 on Sunday 21st April at 4.15pm to find out how the girls perform in the final.
