Bonfire Night Breaks Records For Second Year Running | |||
LFB report smallest number of fires across the capital since records began
London’s fire crews dealt with 125 fires on Monday 5th November – five less than last year’s record breaking low of 130 fires, and significantly fewer than the 175 fires in 2010. New figures also reveal that the number of fires on November 5th has dropped by 63 per cent in the last five years, from 334 fires on 5th November 2007. The Brigade says that this is, in part, due to its effective communication of fire safety messages to the public in the run up to Bonfire Night and on the night itself. London Fire Commissioner, Ron Dobson, said: Fire crews tackled 78 fires on Saturday 3rd November, 52 on Sunday 4th November, and 125 on Monday 5th November in the capital.
