Cause of devastating fire now being investigated
Large parts of Battersea Arts Centre, including its iconic glass dome, have been saved after yesterday's massive fire. However the devastation caused will take months to repair. The fire affected part of the building, which has been under refurbishment, and its roof. The back of the building, including the Grand Hall, has been destroyed.

Twelve fire engines and 80 firefighters were called to the fire yesterday (March 13th) afternoon and two aerial appliances were used to fight the blaze from above.
All staff had been safely evacuated from the building but smoke could be seen for miles and the Fire Brigade advised people living and working nearby to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.
