A serving Wandsworth police officer has been suspended after he was charged with a number of offences including one relating to prostitution.

36-year-old Daniel Williams, a detective constable in Wandsworth Borough appeared in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 9 October.

He was charged with two counts of misconduct in public office, one count of causing or inciting prostitution for financial gain and one count of concealing criminal property,

The offences are alleged to have taken place from 1 July to present and whilst Williams was on and off duty.

He was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Professional Standards on Wednesday, 8 October and taken into custody at a central London police station.
