Officers from the Flying Squad in Barnes are appealing for witnesses and information following an armed robbery in the Southfields area of Wandsworth on Tuesday 25th September.

Police were called at approx. 09:00hrs to reports of the armed robbery of a cash in transit vehicle outside Nat West bank, Wimbledon Park Road, Southfields.

The guard, who was outside the van, was approached by the suspect who produced a small black handgun, before threatening the guard.

The suspect then made off with the cash box in a waiting Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicle, that had been parked on the pavement in front of the van in Augustus Road. The vehicle drove off at speed and was later found abandoned in nearby Coombemartin Lane.

No-one was injured. The suspect is described as white, aged approx. 35 and wearing a dark baseball cap and dark top.
