PC Redouane Haddouch, known to everyone as Red, has just clocked up his 100th arrest since April last year.
PC Haddouch, who has 16 years service, is part of the Wandsworth Wanted Offenders Unit. He has put this success done to the fact that once out he refuses to come back in for something to eat or drink unless he has a prisoner with him!
The unit who have arrested over 300 people since they were set up in April last year, are a small dedicated team of officers who track down and arrest wanted persons on Wandsworth whether it be on a recall to prison, wanted on warrant or wanted for questioning.
This has enabled officers at Wandsworth to quickly detain those who pose the most risk to the public.
Supported by a detective they have also been able to track down those difficult to find offenders who have remained “on the run”.
This year they have travelled as far as Coventry to detain a male who was wanted on a recall to prison and was living under an assumed identity with his girlfriend. They also managed to locate and arrest Wandsworth’s oldest outstanding wanted person after he had been on the run for eight years after he failed to appear at court to answer a GBH charge.
DI Darren Hassard said: “The Wanted Offenders Unit has been a success story for us at Wandsworth. We have been able to professionalise the hunt for wanted offenders within a dedicated unit and in doing so, are better able to manage the risk and harm posed by our more prolific offenders.
PC Haddouch should be rightly proud of clocking up his 100th as we are. His work ethic and professionalism are second to none.”
