Crimestoppers launch new website to help trace wanted offenders
A new website is launched by the Metropolitan Police Service and crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers to help trace wanted offenders in London. London's Most Wanted seeks the public's help in the capital, the UK and around the world, to locate people who have committed, or are suspected of committing serious crimes, but who have so far evaded capture. The site is hosted by Crimestoppers and anybody who has information about any suspect featured on London's Most Wanted can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or provide information via the online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org. Wanted offenders can be seen by borough for example Putney & Wandsworth's most wanted can be viewed here. MPS Deputy Commissioner Tim Godwin said: Crimestoppers has a proven history of getting public support to assist in locating and arresting people wanted for serious crimes. As a result of information passed to Crimestoppers: Nationally, everyday 21 people are arrested and charged and one person every nine days is charged with murder. In London there has been an eight per cent increase in the number of people arrested and charged compared to last year and a 17 per cent increase in actionable information received. The new format for London's Most Wanted website will be on a larger scale and allow members of the public to search for wanted people on a geographic basis.
