Sunday April 3rd will see in Richmond’s Old Deer Park face an influx of charitable runners racing for the rainforest in the first event of the 2011 inaugural Rainforest Foundation UK 4 Seasons Challenge.

Mums and children of all ages and running abilities will kick off the first race on the day, with a special race for Mother’s Day – with anyone welcome to come along and run with their mum as a pair in the Mother’s Day 1k. This will precede the kids 1k and the main event, the 4 Seasons Challenge 10k race, the first in a brand new challenge event.

The event will also feature a village area with stalls, all encouraging a green, healthy and festive atmosphere for everyone running or just coming along to watch and support.

The 4 Seasons Challenge - four 10K races in four parks across North, South, East and West London – is a new race event joining London’s popular running calendar, each one taking place in a different season of the year, and all to benefit one of the UK’s most important human rights and environmental charities, the Rainforest Foundation UK.

The first race takes place on Sunday April 3rd at Old Deer Park in Richmond, followed by events in Hackney Marshes, Finsbury Park and Crystal Palace throughout the year. Each race presents its own special challenge, but put all four 10k races together and they become a new and unique annual event for London’s running collective - the 4 Seasons Challenge! Run one, run them all...

Registration is open now at www.rainforestfoundationuk.org/4SC.

Runners can enter individual races as a one-time competitor or register for the full 4 Seasons Challenge. There are no rules about which race must be completed to begin the Challenge, you just need to compete in four consecutive events.

Once registered, runners who have signed up for the full 4 Seasons Challenge will be able to compare their times over all four events and have access to exclusive online and in-pack content from a variety of industry and celebrity sources for race registrants to help them train towards their own personal challenge goals.

The events are organised in partnership with 2:09 Events, run by Mike Gratton, former winner of the London Marathon.

Above all, participation in the 4 Seasons Challenge will help protect the rainforests of the world and the communities living within them, both of which are under threat every day.
