Win one of three high visibility helmets from Proviz and make sure you stay seen
Statistics released this week show a 3% nationwide increase in the number of cyclists killed or injured as commuters turned to their bikes, despite an overall decrease in all types of road accidents. Edmund King, president of the AA believes that the growth in cycling has been due to increased fuel prices and drivers turn to pedal power rather than petrol. He said: "These trends need to be countered and the country's road safety effort has to prepare for better times when more people will drive.”
Wandsworth Cycling Campaign (WCC), which is part of the London Cycling Campaign 'No More Lethal Lorries' appeal, aims to reduce road danger to cyclists which incorporates changes to HGV lorries and training of the drivers. In addition they acknowledge the importance training for cyclists. A spokesperson for (WCC) told PutneySW15.com: "Most of the cyclists killed in the borough of Wandsworth in the last few years have been as a result of crashes involving lorries." Over the past eight years they have both commuted to work by bike in London and noticed many people were improvising with their current cycle accessories in an attempt to become more visible. So they decided it was time to design their own products. As a result, PROVIZ was born to bring a unique range of products to cyclists at affordable prices.
