But take care listen to the waiters advice on portion size
With children who obviously feel their roots are italian not gaelic then the obvious choice for a family meal to celebrate the turning of the years has to be Al Forno in this house.
Wednesday night two weeks before Christmas and the restaurant was busy but lucky for me as i had not booked (!) there was a table available.
Two of the boys shared a large Margarita pizza (£14.85) whilst the birthday boy ordered a large Calzone (£16.85) despite the waitress saying it was "to big for one" and sure enough his eyes were too big for his stomach but thanks to "Doggy Bag/Boxes" we took it back with us to reheat the next day!
The parents choose away from the extensive pizza menu and opted for Calamari (£9.85) and a rare fillet steak (£13.95) with a mixed salad (£3.50) both of these came with generous portions of saute potatoes & chips.
With cokes, sparkling water and a beer the bar bill came to £19.25 bringing the total night out to £78.35 (service is not included).
The service is always friendly and speedy - we kept quiet about the birthday - if you let them know the whole staff including the chef will come and sing a rousing version of happy birthday to you or your friend! You have been warned not for the shy!
