Bibo Plan for Putney Shelved

Restaurant opening on Cantinetta site not proceeding

A plan to open a modern Italian trattoria in Putney in September has been shelved.

Rebecca Mascarenhas and Theo Randall announced a new business partnership last month to launch Bibo in Putney, on the former site of Cantinetta that Rebecca has owned since 1995.

However today (12th July) a statement has been issued saying, "Unfortunately, the planned restaurant collaboration between Rebecca Mascarenhas and Theo Randall to open Bibo in Putney will now not proceed. Theo Randall remains chef/patron of Theo Randall at the InterContinental, and Rebecca will consider alternative opportunities for the southwest London restaurant site.”

No further details were given for the decision. The site has been used for a pop up restaurant in recent weeks.

The planned opening of a restaurant by Tom Aikens is believed to be still proceeding.
