Martin on 7th August 2010 at home, aged 82. Much loved husband of the late Janina, and father of Martin, Marigold, Juliet, Jessica and Cordelia. Thanksgiving Service at 3.15pm on Thursday 19th August at St Margaret's Church, Putney Park Lane, London SW15, following a private cremation.

The family have requested no flowers, but if desired donations may be sent to Marie Curie Cancer Care or Trinity Hospice.

Martin was a diplomat and described his auto-biography 'Anecdotes of a Diplomat' as "a short book giving anecdotes from my life, and also bits about my time in the Diplomatic Service. Suitable for a Christmas stocking!"

In more recent years Martin was a Councillor on Wandsworth Council, Cllr Jim Maddan said he was "a good friend to Putney".
