Engineers from the water company need to repair a large leaking main that lies under the road surface outside 226 Upper Richmond Road.

In order to complete the repair TfL has announced that this stretch of the westbound carriageway will need to be closed to traffic from 10pm on Saturday, November 15 until 5am on Monday, November 17.

TfL, which is the highway authority responsible for the red route, has determined that during this period all vehicles will be banned from turning on to the Upper Richmond Road from both Putney High Street and Putney Hill.

It will be diverting all vehicles heading north on Putney Hill onto Putney High Street and then onto the Lower Richmond Road before they rejoin the Upper Richmond by Barnes Common.

Vehicles heading south on the high street will be expected to continue their journeys onto Putney Hill and then onto Tibbett’s Corner and the A3 before rejoining the Upper Richmond Road via Roehampton Lane.

And motorists travelling westbound from West Hill and east Putney will also be diverted up Putney Hill towards Tibbett’s Corner.

TfL says that traffic heading eastbound on the Upper Richmond Road past the repair site should not be affected.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: “We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause. However, should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Thames Water Customer Services on 08459 200 800, please quote reference number 30420537.”
