Register
now to vote
People
are being urged to complete their electoral registration forms
to make sure they don't lose their right to vote at next year's
Mayor of London, Greater London Authority and European Parliamentary
elections.
Forms
have already been sent to every home in the borough and people
are being advised to complete their form and return it to
the town hall as quickly as possible. Council
staff will be calling at those addresses which do not return
their forms to ensure the electoral roll is as comprehensive
as possible.
People
whose details have not changed can also register quickly and
easily using a new freephone number. To do this they must
have their form with its pre-printed details with them when
they call and they will need to use a touch-tone phone. The
freephone number is 0800 081 0215.
Citizens
of the following countries may also be eligible to vote at
next year's elections if they have joined the European Union,
and their names should be included on registration forms along
with their nationality.
The
countries affected are the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary,
Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Elections
will be held on June 10, 2004 for the Mayor of London, the
Greater London Authority and the European Parliament.
