With a cast 72 including many from Putney, Tower House School has defied convention in staging the complete ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, produced by Mr Paul Geary the Head of Drama. This epic production includes 25 minutes of screen footage which was filmed on the barren hillsides- and in the dark, dank caverns and mines - of The Peak District. Eleven actors and film crew ventured to the Derbyshire countryside to create the landscape of Middle Earth. Richmond Park was also used for some of the battle scenes, along with various medieval style local buildings!

For the boys, aged just 7 -13, the production -which is nearly two hours long - mixes screen footage with stage acting in a unique fashion. The original script has also allowed for most of the characters in Tolkien's novels to be portrayed – thus keeping the purists happy! Although it has certainly been a demanding and punishing schedule for such young actors, it has been an extraordinary experience and one they will never, never forget.
