RNLI lifeboat volunteer giving talk at London Rowing Club
January 6, 2026 Members of the London Rowing Club and supporters of the RNLI are invited to a special evening of river‑themed storytelling and poetry later this month, as Chiswick lifeboat volunteer Edmund Hall presents readings from his new book Tamesis. The event, taking place on Thursday 29 January at the club’s historic Victorian boathouse in Putney, will bring together river enthusiasts, RNLI supporters and local residents for an informal social gathering overlooking the Thames. Hall, a long‑serving volunteer at Chiswick Lifeboat Station, will share poems inspired by his experiences on the river and his work with the lifeboat crew. Tamesis includes pieces about Chiswick Reach, Beverley Brook and Barn Elms Reach, alongside reflections on the drama and quiet beauty of life on the Thames. The evening will also feature an exhibition of illustrations by artist Gary Partridge, whose work accompanies the poems in the book. Tickets are free, with registration required to manage numbers, and the club bar will be open throughout the evening. A collection will be held in support of the RNLI, and signed copies of Tamesis will be available to purchase. The event runs from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, and tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.
