Wandsworth’s visual arts festival, We Art Wandsworth, returns this February with its second major exhibition — a month-long showcase of work by local artists celebrating the people, places and stories that shape the borough.

Running from Monday 2 to Saturday 28 February, the exhibition is free to visit and hosted once again by the Putney School of Art & Design. Entry is free and no booking is required.

Created as part of Wandsworth’s London Borough of Culture 2025 programme, We Art Wandsworth places visual arts at the heart of the borough’s cultural identity. The initiative spans exhibitions, workshops, community projects and open-access creative events, all designed to encourage residents to make, share and experience art in their own neighbourhoods.

The project is led by Friends of Putney School of Art & Design, working in partnership with Putney School of Art & Design (PSAD), Sprout Arts, Wandsworth Libraries, and Battersea Arts Centre (BAC). Together, these organisations have built a borough-wide platform that supports artists, engages communities and celebrates Wandsworth’s creative energy.

At the heart of the programme is a core team of Wandsworth-based practitioners who shape its artistic direction including Roopa Basu – artist, designer and facilitator, Tamara Flanagan OBE – community engagement specialist and Phillippa Egerton – multidisciplinary artist They aim to ensures the festival remains rooted in local voices while offering a professional, ambitious and inclusive creative experience.

The inaugural We Art Wandsworth exhibition last year drew hundreds of visitors and featured an eclectic mix of painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics and mixed-media work. Artists explored themes ranging from Battersea’s industrial heritage to Roehampton’s green spaces, alongside intimate portraits and personal stories from across the borough..

Founded in 1883, PSAD is one of London’s oldest and most respected community art schools, offering high-quality courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, digital arts and more. Its studios, housed in a distinctive Victorian building on Oxford Road, have long been a creative hub for artists of all ages and abilities.

The school has a proud tradition of nurturing local talent, supporting emerging artists and fostering a sense of community through creativity.
