Comment on this story on the

Clare McCaldin (mezzo-soprano) and Lindy Tennent-Brown (piano)

I am delighted to welcome back Clare McCaldin to the Knitting Concerts. Clare first sang at the concerts in 2008 when she was part of the vocal quartet that performed the Brahms Liebelieder Waltzes, and then returned to give a recital of English and American song at the beginning of 2009. Since then she has busy at opera houses around the country and abroad, with several recent productions at the Royal Opera House, and is joined for this recital by her pianist, Lindy Tennent-Brown, who has recently been working on the new opera series, Exposure, at ROH2. They will be offering a sumptuous programme of French and English song with works by Faure, Poulenc and Quilter.

As ever the concert will last an hour with wine and juice available free of charge. The retiring collection will be for the Wandsworth Refugee Network. Please feel free to come armed with something to do whilst you listen if you would like to although with singing of this quality you may find it hard to focus on anything else!

Looking ahead you might like to make a note of the April date which is Sunday April 17th, when there will be an opportunity some ravishing but lesser-known works by Berg and Zemlinsky from turn of the century Vienna. Local soprano Donna Cox will be amongst the performers on that evening. More details to follow.
