Programme also includes works by Bach, Leonarda & Purcell June 20, 2025 The next concert to be given by the 1885 Singers will be a programme of baroque music with Vivaldi’s Gloria as its centrepiece. The concert is at 7:30pm on Saturday 5 July at St Mary’s where is believed the Magnussen organ is especially suited to the Baroque style. In addition to the Glora, there will be Pergolesi’s Magnificat as well as works by Bach, Leonarda & Purcell. Soloists include soprano Theano Papadaki and mezzo-soprano Leilani Barratt with Alexander Flower playing the organ and Christopher Langworthy as Musical Director. Tickets can be purchased on the door for £18 with concessions available for £15 The 1885 Singers is open to everyone and gives four concerts a year. There is a 4-8 week lead into each concert with rehearsals on Mondays in All Saints Church. It is a non-auditioned choir of about 50 voices who enjoy singing from a wide repertoire of secular and sacred choral music.
