PURE Underwater Rugby, based in Putney is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Play Fund.

PURE Underwater Rugby, which was established in September 2013, is the UK’s first Underwater Rugby club. Based in Putney Leisure Centre the club plays every Thursday. The game is very challenging, as not only are players underwater but the baskets are placed at the bottom of the pool which can be up to 5 metres down!

Oliver Kraus, club leader, says: “This donation from the MARS Milk Play Fund couldn’t have come at a better time. We can now afford one more weekly session. Renting a pool is not cheap andJune 19, 2014 give us better advantage when competing abroad.”

The MARS Milk Play Fund was set up to help individuals, clubs and groups to play more. The fund runs until September 30 2014 and has ten £300 awards to donate each month. There is also a £1,000 award for the monthly People’s Choice award, where the public can vote for their favourite individual, club or team.

The fund is open to residents of, and clubs and organisations based in the UK and Republic of Ireland only. Applicants must be 18 years or over and only one application will be accepted per person, club or organisation.

The fund is also giving away £1,000 of experience day vouchers and ten runners up prizes of the latest gadgets every month.
