Emergency Roadworks In Putney High Street | ||||
Motorists and bus passengers are being warned they are likely to face lengthy delays
Council engineers are to begin emergency repairs to the road surface in Putney High Street tomorrow morning (Thursday) and motorists and bus passengers are being warned they are likely to face lengthy delays. The work is to repair part of the carriageway that has partially collapsed at the junction with Lacy Road. Work will begin first thing in the morning – and will cause delays in the morning rush hour. The engineers will work as quickly as they can to repair the defect - but until they have excavated the hole and properly assessed the extent of the damage, they cannot give a timetable for when the works will be completed. Traffic flows along the high street will be controlled by a three-way set of traffic lights at the junction of the High Street and Lacy Road. Anyone who travels along Putney High Street on their way to work or school is being advised to allow extra time for their journeys or choose an alternative route if possible. Further updates will appear on the council’s website tomorrow (10th May) as soon as the extent of the damage to the carriageway is known.
