Rumours abound as to riots - half an hour ago I read that Putney Bridge was closed and there were riots on the High Street ..... I got on the bike to take a look as no sirens to be heard and this is what I saw................

....16.10hrs

hmmm looks a normal busy day of traffic and the bridge was open to traffic and pedestrians

Many of the High Street shops were closing up a couple including Halfords were taking precautions ...

And there were signs of last nights disruptions .........

As I left 20 minutes later I was aware of the increased police presence with a pair of police or community officers on every street corner from Felsham Rd on both sides of the High Street ....

Wandsworth Leader Ravi Govindia has condemned the public disorder:
“It is essential that this violence and thuggery stops now and that there is no repeat of these mindless scenes this evening. I would urge parents to make sure that their teenage children are kept off the streets tonight.

He continued:
“On behalf of the council I would like to thank the police officers and fire crews who put themselves in harms way to protect our residents and business. London is a resilient city. Last night we had serious disorder. This morning Wandsworth is back to work. We will overcome these challenges to law and order on the streets.”
