MBE for services to the Putney and Roehampton community
Local women Mo Smith has received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. She received the award in recognition of her services to the community in Putney and Roehampton particularly her work in trying to reduce isolation amongst the elderly. She founded Regenerate.com in 2000 along with her son Andy to run a lunch club on the Alton Estate in Roehampton. Following an assessment of the Roehampton area by the Wandsworth PCT RISE (Reaching the ISolated Elderly) was a project initiated by Regenerate.com in 2001. After the closure of the Robert Joy Day Centre in Putney, a second RISE was opened at the Platt Christian Centre in Felsham Road, Putney. The Regenerate-RISE charity now works on a national level catering for the needs of the elderly.
