Local photographer Andrew Wilson has one of his best Christmases ever when he discovered that his book 'Wild about Putney' was the top selling book for December at Waterstone's Putney.

Sponsored by Warren’s, the Putney estate agent, the book is full of beautiful photographs, covering all aspects of Putney life and environment - the river, the embankment, street scenes, architecture, houses, pubs, schools, and even pageant. Not to mention, of course, Putney’s open spaces and wildlife.

Colin Thomas, Manager of Waterstones told PutneySW15.com:
"Wild about Putney was our bestselling book in December beating off competition from Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Guinness Book of Records and other perennial favourites at Christmas. Sales got off to a great start with the launch of the book in our shop in early December and they continued to be strong throughout the festive season. In total we sold over 400 copies which made it by far and away our most successful title this year. I think it was the ideal gift for people in Putney and should continue to sell well throughout the year ahead."

Putney resident Andrew, has a background in print and publishing and is also a local business advisor. He told PutneySW15.com:
"I was really pleased to be working with a retailer who clearly understands his trade. Unfortunately, that is not always the case these days, which you would think strange in a market such as this. From the very first day they had it on view everywhere and we went from there and the results were brilliant, by far there biggest seller this Christmas."

Andrew is a keen photographer, & he published his first book on the parks and open spaces of South West London, Wild in the City in 2009 and hasn’t looked back since. Wild about the Thames followed the year after. Wild about Putney is the 4th in his series of local books; Wild about Barnes and Wild about Kew were published in 2011 & Wild about Wimbledon was published in December 2012.
