Members told that the site is being taken over by Pure Gyms

Members of Virign Active received letters informing them that the gym is closing and that it become part of the Pure Gym group.

This evening the website states: 'We are continually reviewing our portfolio of clubs to make sure we remain highly competitive and best support the long-term growth of the business. As part of that process, we have decided to close our Putney club. We are sorry to tell you that Putney will be closing on 31 March 2015 at 2pm and transferring to Pure Gym. The club will be closed for some time while Pure Gym refit to meet their business requirements.'

Virgin Active apologised to members.

Pure Gyms have confirmed that they will soon be running the gym at 154-160 Upper Richmond Road.

The announcement comes just after Daley Thompson announced plans to open up a gym in the Putney area.
