Ground Coffee Society to take over operations
January 6, 2026 St Mary’s Church has announced a new partnership that will bring a fresh chapter to its popular community café. The church has teamed up with Dave and Tracey Dickinson, founders of Ground Coffee Society, a well-established independent café and roastery. Ground Coffee Society has been a fixture on Lower Richmond Road in Putney for more than 15 years, earning a strong local following for its speciality coffee, relaxed atmosphere and high-quality food offering. The business has played a major role in shaping the area’s independent coffee scene since 2009, sourcing, roasting and serving its own beans and building a reputation for consistency and craft. The company also operates its own coffee roastery in Wandsworth Town, supplying beans both to its café and to customers across London. The partnership is a natural fit for St Mary’s. Dave and Tracey already have longstanding connections with St Mary’s School and the wider church community, and the church says their experience, ethos and local ties made them “the perfect people” to take the café forward. Building work on the revamped café began on 5 January, with the church promising to announce an opening date soon. The refurbished space is expected to continue the café’s tradition as a welcoming hub for parishioners, local families, riverside walkers and visitors to Putney. “We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to welcoming everyone back into the space soon,” St Mary’s said in its announcement.
