Eight elite men's rugby teams to compete for trophy May 13, 2026 South-west London’s summer sporting calendar sparks into life on Priory Lane next month as the London Floodlit Sevens returns to Rosslyn Park FC on Thursday 11 June, bringing eight elite men’s sevens sides together for one of the capital’s most atmospheric midweek events. The tournament at the club's ground blends high-tempo rugby with street-food stalls, bars and a lively crowd that spills across the Roehampton ground as dusk settles and the floodlights take over. It is a format that has helped the competition build a loyal following over the years, attracting Premiership sides, invitational teams and a growing number of supporters looking for something a little different on a Thursday night. Last year’s champions, Saracens, return as the team to beat after lifting the cup with a squad featuring rising star Noah Calouri, whose pace and footwork lit up the 2025 edition. They join a field drawn from some of the strongest sevens programmes in the Premiership and beyond, promising a night of fast, open rugby played at close quarters. Rosslyn Park’s Group Operations Lead, Greg Sendell, says the appeal lies in the rare chance to watch elite sevens players from just a few metres away. “This sevens competition is a rare opportunity to see some of the best in the game up close,” he said. “And now, with our corporate hospitality packages, people across the capital can make it a Thursday night to remember.” Those hospitality options include private areas for up to 15 guests, bespoke branding opportunities and premium drinks packages, adding a corporate edge to an event that has long balanced competitive rugby with a festival-style atmosphere. Previous winners include Harlequins, the British Army and even Fiji, underscoring the tournament’s reputation for attracting high-calibre sides. Founded in 1879, Rosslyn Park remains one of England’s oldest and most respected rugby clubs, with its 1st XV competing in National One, the third tier of the English game. The Floodlit 7s is one of its flagship events, drawing supporters from across London and giving the club’s Roehampton home a distinctive summer buzz. Alongside the rugby, spectators can expect music, food vendors and bars dotted around the ground, making the evening as appealing to casual visitors as it is to dedicated rugby fans. Gates open at 4pm, with general admission tickets priced at £10.
