The Putney Society announced a Christmas donation to Headway, a charity whose purpose is to support brain-damaged people, their families and their car-ers. Such people on discharge from hospital often find them-selves unable to work or support their families.

Headway, founded in 1979, has grown into a national organi-sation, and their SW London branch has recently started to operate in Putney.

Becky Newman is a trustee of this branch – you may already know her as the owner of the Bricklayer’s Arms in Putney (www.bricklayers-arms.co.uk) She raises funds by running extreme marathons, and was recently named a finalist for Headway’s UK Campaigner of the Year Award by running The North Pole Marathon in temperatures of – 30 degrees, and she plans to run in future marathons too!
