A Putney based doctor has been jailed after he was found guilty of sexual assaults on his patients. 63 year old Dr Samir Asad was from Putney but working at Crosshouse Hospital having been placed by Medacs Healthcare, an agency that provides health workers worldwide. He was found guilty of sexually assaulting two female patients has been jailed for 18 months. Dr Samir Asad, 63, assaulted a 60-year-old woman in Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock, in December 2010. He also attacked a 23-year-old woman at Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride, in December 2008. She came forward after publicity over the first attack. At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Sheriff Alistair Watson also placed Asad on the sex offenders' register for 10 years. Dr Asad had also been found guilty of sexually assaulting the 60-year-old by pressing his body against her and committing indecent acts in December 2010. In addition he was also convicted of sexually assaulting the 23-year-old and carrying out indecent acts on the pretext of examining her in December 2008.
