A man from Roehampton is one of 12 people who have been charged with offences relating to violence at student protests in central London in December of last year.

21 year old Andrew Guy from Peterfield Rise, Roehampton was charged with Violent Disorder Contrary to Section 2 Public Order Act 1986. He has been bailed to to appear at City of Westminster magistrates court on 9 June along with 7 other men on similar charges.

One of the others charged is Alfie Meadows who had to have surgery for a brain injury. He claims this was the result of having been hit by a police truncheon.

The Metropolitan Police have stated that scuffles broke out after the march organised by the National Campaign against Fees and Cuts deviated from the agreed route. Over 50 people were injured on the day including one police officer who received serious injuries to his neck.

The attack on the car carrying Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, occurred during the march. There is no indication that Mr. Guy's arrest is in connection with this incident.
