Local estate agent James Greenhalgh , has been on a mission to assist the company in achieving their mammoth annual fundraising target of £75,000 for their chosen charity, Shooting Star CHASE.

On Sunday 7th October, James ran the Royal Parks Foundation half marathon, raising an impressive £1000 by himself. James, aged 22, comments: “This is the first time I have ever done anything like this but I was keen to do my bit to contribute to this year’s charity target. I thought this would be a good challenge for me and I have to say, despite really feeling it from mile 10-13, the sense of achievement at the end was fantastic and has now spurred me on to try my hand at a triathlon.”

James who works for Townends was part of 12,500 runners who took part in the 13.1 mile race, where the scenic route winds through four Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park and The Green Park). He ran with his girlfriend, Lily Rodd, who raised an additional £468 in support of the Shooting Star CHASE. They crossed the finish line in exactly two hours.

Janet Tully, Group HR Director commented:“Shooting Star CHASE charity cares for families living in west London, Surrey and West Sussex who have a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition. We have been supporting the charity for over ten years raising over £100,000 in the last three years alone, but this year we really have set ourselves a challenge with such a large target. I am humbled that so many staff members across the Townends branch network have taken it upon themselves to help. Already this year we have had skydives, army assault course challenges, golf days, cycle rides as well as staff volunteering their spare time. James is another example of how committed everyone is and his contribution is going to go along way.”
