Today appears to be the last day of trading for the Starbucks coffee shop on Putney High Street.

The store on the corner of Werter Road has a notice saying that Friday 16 December will be its last day and the company's web site indicates that it will finally shut its doors at 8.30pm.

The global coffee chain has been criticised for its tax policies and a company strategy of saturating an area with outlets in order to drive out local competition.

We have asked Starbucks for an explanation of the closure but have yet to receive a response.
