|SW15's Shocking Child Poverty Rates|
|26 per cent of children living in poverty
The specific breakdown for Wandsworth is as follows:
East Putney 19%
West Hill 36%
West Putney 27%
Four million children - one in three - are currently living in poverty in the UK according to the End Child Poverty Campaign. This is one of the highest rates in the industrialised world.
“Poverty can have a profound impact on the child, their family, and the rest of society. It often sets in motion a deepening spiral of social exclusion, creating problems in education, employment, mental and physical health and social interaction,” says the Campaign.
*The Campaign to End Child Poverty is made up of more than 150 organisations from civic society including children’s charities, child welfare organisations, social justice groups, faith groups, trade unions and others, united in our vision of a UK free of child poverty.
