|Floreat Education To Open New Earlsfield Primary School|
On Garratt Lane's former Atheldene Day Centre site
Floreat Education – a Department for Education approved Academy Sponsor – is set to open their first school in Earlsfield in September 2015.
Called Floreat Wandsworth Primary School, it will be located on the site of the former Atheldene Day Centre on Garratt Lane. Demolition works are already well underway, and with work progressing as scheduled, the roof could be on as early as November 2014.
Driven by Wandsworth Council’s decision to increase local school capacity, this new two-form entry primary will provide additional school places and add choice for local parents.
The school will provide children with the core skills of literacy and numeracy using the tried and tested programmes Read, Write, Inc. and Maths Mastery. Floreat also aims for pupils to develop a deep and broad cultural knowledge through the study of traditional subjects from Reception onwards.
Floreat’s Managing Director, James O'Shaughnessy, who was chair of governors of Garratt Park School from 2005 to 2007, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected by Wandsworth to run their newest school. It’s a huge honour and we are very keen to learn from the experience and wisdom available in Wandsworth’s family of outstanding schools
“We will shortly be appointing the Executive Principal for the school and are looking forward to deepening our engagement with local parents and other members of the community.”
With various commuJune 17, 2014ns in the pipeline, local parents and community members are encouraged to keep an eye on the website at www.floreat.org.uk.
Floreat Wandsworth has an inclusive admissions policy mirroring that of most other local schools. Their draft admissions policy will be placed on their website soon. An online consultation survey will also be accessible on the school website from July. Floreat is encouraging residents to go online and share their thoughts for developing a school that genuinely meets the needs of its community.
