HRH The Earl of Wessex Opens new wing of Haberdasher’s House
During the visit, His Royal Highness, who also met patients, residents and staff, heard how the TRS, the first of its kind in the UK, enables brain injured people with differing functional, communication and cognitive abilities to take responsibility for their everyday activities and prepare for independent living. Haberdasher’s House, originally funded by the said Worshipful Company, is situated in a residential estate outside the main grounds of the RHN. It comprises purpose-specific accommodation that allows people to safely explore new skills and strategies in a real life setting. A team of rehabilitation assistants carry out the treatment plans and follow guidelines written by therapists, constantly supporting and encouraging residents to look after themselves.
