Local MP, Justine Greening, has launched the ‘I love Barn Elms’ campaign to help residents make the case to protect Barn Elms from being one of Thames Water’s main sites to build the Thames Tunnel from.

Justine has written to local residents asking them to tell Thames Water why they love Barn Elms and show their support at the Barn Elms rally and sports day on Saturday 16th July organised with Zac Goldsmith MP, Wandsworth Council, Richmond Council and Stop the Shaft.

The Barn Elms rally will start at 11.30am with Justine and Zac making their case against Barn Elms being used as a main drive shaft site. Sports taster sessions including archery, rowing, touch rugby, tennis and football will be going on from 10.00am to 4.00pm as well as face painting and play activities for toddlers so there will be something for everyone. Residents are welcome to bring a picnic and stay at Barn Elms for the day.

The Barn Elms fun day also has the backing of a number of local celebrities who will be awarding prizes for the best ‘I Love Barn Elms’ comments so it really is a day not to missed.

Justine Greening said:

“It’s important that we all get a chance to say why Barn Elms matters to us and I think a great way to do this is for us to tell Thames Water directly why we love Barn Elms.

The Barn Elms rally & fun day will be a great opportunity to really show Thames Water how many people care about Barn Elms as well as showcase all the fantastic sports Barn Elms has to offer our community.

Whilst it’s great Thames Water is looking at an alternative brownfield site, we do need to keep the pressure on. It would be great to get as many people down there as possible so come along. It’s going to be a great fun day for the whole family.”

If you would like to join in Justine’s ‘I love Barn Elms’ campaign, please download the campaign card here and take a few minutes to write down why you love Barn Elms, and return to Justine at the freepost address. Justine will make sure Thames Water gets every single message.
