New Eastfields Avenue flats expected to be ready by end of 2016

Thirty six new flats for shared ownership in the Riverside Quarter development, Eastfields Avenue, SW18, will be available to purchase on a part-buy, part-rent basis, with existing Wandsworth residents prioritised over buyers from outside the borough.

The new homes will also be managed by Viridian housing association, while the development is off Putney Bridge Road and within walking distance of both Putney and Wandsworth town centres.

Cllr Paul Ellis, Cabinet Member for Housing, said, “This is another example of how by enabling development the council helps to provide thousands of new homes across the borough for low cost home ownership, and prioritised for Wandsworth households. This area beside Wandsworth Park is fast becoming an exciting new part of the Thames riverside.”

During the 2015/16 financial year, 501 homes for shared ownership and low cost rent were built in Wandsworth, more than in the previous year, and with the construction of 1,742 expected within the next few years. A survey of private renters reported that of the 736 respondents, two thirds cited inability to buy a home as the main reason for privately renting.
